DISTANCE LEARNING AND ITS ROLE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF KNOWLEDGE SOCIETIES A THEORETICAL STUDY OF THE REALITY OF DISTANCE EDUCATION IN THE ARAB WORLD
Distance education was inevitable result of accelerated developments in the technology of communication, due to using audiovisual techniques through employing educational directions, theories of knowledge and learning theories. Therefore, this concept developed and became more extensive and complex. This development and the increasing of its applications required to set strategies to define the procedures of its work. Virtual systems, based on distance education and face-to-face learning in the field of media founded by technology of communication, represent a new field, which requires study and qualitative research and theoretical analyses. The integration of innovated technology presents the possibility for media to do its educational function and its specialties by using (CMC) in the field of distance education, and to construct the environment of virtual class and provides possibilities of direct conversation and extensive services of internet. The importance of the research is to present a new idea about electronic education of media even if it is applied in some Arab universities but it is not popularized. The research presents an essential question about how to employ the technology of electronic education to spread the knowledge of media in a more possible range.
The study of media has its particularity. There are many questions, which the research tries to decode like: Are there appropriate systems to the distance education of media and others not? Which is the appropriate strategic dimension for work? Has the distance education of media the similar qualities to traditional education? Can the project of electronic education contribute to eliminate more than one type of illiteracy? Are all electronic lessons effective? Do all programs of distance education employ effective tools? The research aims to reach to planning an Arab strategic project to develop distance education of media.
